Ace Hardware closed 2025 on a strong note, delivering record full-year revenue and continued store growth across the U.S. Fourth quarter revenues reached $2.5 billion, up 9.9% over the prior year. Even excluding the extra week in the fiscal calendar, revenue climbed a healthy 4.7%.

For the full year, Ace achieved a milestone $10 billion in revenue, a 5.8% increase over 2024 — reflecting steady comparable store performance, new store momentum, and a significant lift in digital sales.

President and CEO John Venhuizen credited the company’s disciplined execution and local retailer strength, noting that comparable hardware store sales grew 0.7% while Ace’s digital business surged 27% for the year. He also highlighted record shareholder dividends and an impressive 40% pre-tax return on shareholder equity.

Store Growth & Sales Trends

Ace added 180 new domestic stores in 2025, ending the year with 5,250 U.S. locations, a net gain of 106 stores. Growth was fueled by strong performances in key categories including lawn and garden, grilling, power tools, fertilizer, and impulse items.

Retail revenues from company-owned stores increased 7.2% for the year. The Great Lakes Ace Hardware chain delivered positive same-store sales growth, while Westlake Ace Hardware remained relatively stable.

Across approximately 3,900 retailers sharing daily sales data, full-year U.S. same-store sales edged up 0.2%, driven by higher average ticket sizes.

Profitability & Investments

While net income dipped slightly due to one-time international asset impairment charges and higher interest expense, operating income improved with revenue growth. Gross margins strengthened in both wholesale and retail segments, reflecting disciplined pricing and merchandising strategies.

With record revenue, continued expansion, and sustained investment in marketing, digital capabilities, and supply chain infrastructure, Ace Hardware enters 2026 positioned for steady growth and ongoing support of its independent retailers.
