The special screw is designed to safely pass through the carpet and break slightly below the floor, leaving nothing to see or feel with your bare foot. The kit includes a tool to find the joist in carpeted floors. On hardwood floors the screw snaps about ¼ inch below the surface. The screw looks like a finish nail that is counter sunk and can be easily concealed with wood filler.
