The Taylor family celebrated the grand opening of a new Pleasants Hardware location on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 10011 Hull Street Road in Richmond, Virginia. The opening marks the fourth new store added since Taylor’s Do it Center acquired Pleasants Hardware in 2016. Since the acquisition, the company has grown the Pleasants Hardware brand from seven locations to 11 today, alongside 11 Taylor’s Do it Center stores, for a total of 22 locations.
The celebration included special discounts and giveaways throughout the day, along with the company’s traditional board cutting ceremony, followed by live demos from Big Green Egg, Broil King, and STIHL, as well as consultations with Benjamin Moore, Midwest Fasteners, and Scotts Lawn Care.
“We’re proud of the track record of our company in opening our 22nd location in today’s competitive marketplace,” said Joe Taylor, President and CEO of Pleasants Hardware and Taylor’s Do it Center. “We’re excited to be celebrating that as we head into our 100th year in business in 2027.”
The 15,000 sq. ft. store is conveniently located in the Oxbridge Square Shopping Center in Chesterfield County, part of the greater Richmond area. The new location offers a wide selection of top brands, including Big Green Egg, Traeger, Broil King, and Napoleon grills, along with trusted names like Benjamin Moore, Midwest Fasteners, STIHL, Scotts, Jonathan Green, and more.
“This is the fourth new store we’ve opened since 2016, and each one continues to raise the bar,” said Darrell Campbell, General Manager of Pleasants Hardware. “From our incredible team to our partnership with Do it Best, we’ve been able to leverage their store design expertise, merchandising assistance, and generous discounts that helped us open ahead of schedule and deliver a better experience for our customers.”
“For us, a sports partnership isn’t just about visibility,” said Heather Dade Themelis, Senior Manager of Sports Marketing at The Home Depot. “It’s an opportunity to show up for the communities where sports bring people together.”
The furniture donation is just one part of a broader community commitment this Final Four season.
Through its support of the Atlanta Tipoff Club’s Naismith Award Final Four Legacy Project, The Home Depot is supporting full gymnasium renovations at two YMCAs: the Avondale Meadows YMCA in Indianapolis (Men’s Final Four) and the Legacy Foundation Chris-Town YMCA in Phoenix (Women’s Final Four).
Dedication events will take place during Naismith Awards Week – April 1 in Phoenix and April 4 in Indianapolis – bringing together community members, local leaders, and the next generation of players who will use these spaces for years to come.
Building More Than Sponsorships
The Home Depot has long been a presence in college sports, and March Madness remains one of its most visible platforms. But the company’s focus extends beyond brand exposure.
“We’re in the business of helping people build and improve the spaces they love,” Dade Themelis said.
For the kids who will take their first shots in a newly renovated gym this spring, the Final Four won’t just be about a championship. It will be a moment when their community gotsomething back – built with the kind of investment The Home Depot aims to bring to every community it serves.
